SÖNNI / OFFERINGS
DANCE AND KORA PERFORMANCE
Sönni, in Bambara, means offerings. Offerings which can be ritualistic, mystical, but also daily offerings, gifts to those we love, gifts to those in need.
In this intimate show, designed for acoustic configurations and parks and gardens, Alexia Traore and Bakary Diarra design as they move a space where the subtle and timeless melodies of the kora become visual.
Music and dance transform the environment of the performance: parks, gardens, forests, pedestrian streets, bridges, squares become ephemeral settings. And an artistic dialogue is woven around aerial sounds, songs of love or praise. The stroll alternates with breaths of words shared with the public: tales, poems, exchanges about dance and Kora.
