MY BODY REMEMBERS
PERFORMANCE
The memory content of the body is an infinite field of exploration. Alexia Traore questions the word of the body and the way it expresses what it has gone through and is going through, in connection with its immediate environment and its interactions with the Other.
My body remembers is a performative process, where the body of the artist interacts with a spoken or sung text through different media: dance, visual art, song, percussion, always through the improvisation of the moment. This choice of improvisation leaves open the field of possibilities and encounters, according to the words and images that arise. Alexia Traore shares this performance solo or with other artists (slam, song, dance).
The title of this performance pays homage to the Congolese writer Sony Labou Tansi, who develops themes linked to individual and collective memory in all his theatrical, poetic and romantic work (« The body remembers » in La Vie et Demie, Seuil , 1979)
The direct search for correspondences, for dialogue between the body and the words is finally based on practices where the body memory is made aware, such as the Feldenkrais method.

My body remembers
Your body remembers
Don’t be afraid, I close my eyes
I read the mysteries
Of your invisible poems,
From your hidden sources.
Close your eyes…
Beauty is the trace of your dreams
Of your madness, flights and abysses
Come, the body is a book
The wind turns the pages
And on our free pages
I dance and I write.
On all our free pages,
You dance, and I write
I dance, and you write
